A 'Dressy' Celebration!

My card today is one I made a few weeks ago for a friend who reached the grand age of 50! She's a very modern lady so I needed to make something a bit special and sparkly and this was the result. It uses the Dress Up Framelits with the dress made in Basic Black and the shrug in Silver Glimmer Paper. For the sentiment I inked part of a stamp from Create a Cupcake, the 'you're' is a stamp from Oh,Hello which I masked and inked in Stazon and the 50 was cut with the now retired Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies.

Simples Sunday - Monkeying Around!

A very quick post from me today with a card for Simples Sunday and this week's LIM sketch challenge.
This is simply two circles cut with the Circles Framelits Collection with two monkeys from Zoo Babies punched with a circle punch. I drew a line between the monkeys with a marker pen and stamped the stars, from the SAB set Banner Blast. This was then fixed to the card using dimensionals with a sentiment from Four You and some Basic Rhinestones which I coloured with permanent markers - Simples!
Have a great Sunday and pop back soon

Less is More Sketch

Today's LIM challenge is a sketch (see top right) and here is my offering. I started by cutting an aperture in a piece of cardstock using one of the Window Frames Collection framelits then, on another piece of card, I stamped the Hardwood stamp in Soft Suede. This was positioned behind the aperture before fixing to a card blank. The sentiment is from the Hostess set Simply Sketched, the Coastal Cabana butterflies from Papillon Potpourri and the tiny Pool Party flowers from the SAB set Banner Blast. A few Basic Pearls were added to finish the card.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and dodge the showers as much as you can :0)
Back soon

Makes me Smile!

The theme over at LIM this week is - 'Makes me Smile' which took a bit of thinking about. There are lots of things that make me smile but how to show them in a card? Well this is my way of doing it -
All of my family & friends make me smile so the sentiment is dedicated to each and every one of them
Flowers always make me smile so here they are on my card
Clean, simple and orderly makes me smile (and being a tad OCD that's not just in my papercrafting!) and that is the overall card.
Just to prove that flowers make me smile I thought I would share a photo of the beautiful flowers my 3 year old Grandaughter chose for me for my birthday a couple of days ago

Oh and I really can't forget the other thing that makes me smile (my birthday present from my 5 year old Grandson) Chocolate of course!
They know me too well!!!!
Have a great weekend

Washi Tape!

I have three cards to show you today all using Washi Tape. This is one of those things that I loved the idea of, and bought three different sets, but have hardly used it.
That all changed yesterday when our team's Facebook Challenge for the next fortnight is to 'create with Washi Tape' and as someone who is always up for a challenge (mostly limited to papercrafting I might add!) I set to and came up with these cards. They are all 4" square cards, the top ones using Gorgeous Grunge and all using various stamp sets and punches.
I am fairly pleased with the result and, it just goes to prove, sometimes you just need a bit of a kick to get going :0)
Back tomorrow with some small 'chocolately' Easter gifts I have made for my family who are all descending on me!

Easter Treats

Today I have some little Easter Treat Holders to show you which I made using the Scallop Tag Topper punch. The idea came from an American demo called Sandi MacIver whose video can be seen here.
I adapted the measurements for the rabbit and chick to make them a bit taller but the basic idea is the same.
I won't bore you with all the product details as you can use whatever you have to hand to make and decorate them.

Treat Boxes

Today I have a couple of little treat boxes to show you that I made last week to give to a friend and her daughter. They are super easy to make and only use a piece of 6"x6" DSP and the Envelope Punch Board. For mine I used some of the SAB paper along with the Petite Petal, Boho Blossoms and Itty Bitty Shapes punches. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments punched with the Word Window punch. I filled the bags with some mini eggs and tied them with a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe Stretch Ruffled Ribbon. If you would like to see Sam Donald's YouTube video which gives you all measurements and instructions then click here.

More Shadowing with a Technique

This is yet another card for the LIM challenge which this week is a one layer card using 'Shadows'. I tried out a new technique to me - using masking tape (or decorators tape) to create a background. This is not the best example but I was quite pleased with it for a first time attempt. Basically you take a piece of masking tape, place it on your inkpad and rub it gently with your fingers before taking it off and placing it on your cardstock to transfer the ink. There are plenty of YouTube videos showing you how to do this if you haven't already tried it. My masking tape was only cheap stuff so is quite grainy but I quite like the texture it gives. I used Pistachio Pudding and Soft Sky then stamped the image from Lovely as Tree in Early Espresso then re-stamped to get the shadow effect.
A couple of score lines and a simple sentiment were added to finish the card.
