Olympic Thank You

Back again with another quick post to show you a card I made to say 'thank you'.
I was lucky enough to be invited by a friend at work to an 'Olympic' BBQ on Friday evening and, with the events of the past weeks, it made such a lovely change from hospital visiting!
My friend's husband is Chinese and I am sure he should be a professional barbeque-er (if there is such a thing) as the food was absolutely amazing - pork, lamb, chicken and salmon all marinated in the most wonderful flavours and the biggest containers of noodles you have ever seen! Followed by a fantastic selection of desserts. They had also set up a massive screen in the garden so that we could all watch the opening ceremony, which was only marred by the fact that it was absolutely freezing! The highlight of the night for the hostess I'm sure had to be the flyover by the Red Arrows - directly above the garden and only 9 minutes after we had watched them on television. Thank you Joan & Keith for a fabulous evening.

Just a very quick post as it's been over a week since my last one. My Dad is still in hospital so not much time for crafting and, what little time I have had, I've been frantically making 60 Mini Milk Carton Favors for a wedding next Saturday! Anyway today's card is one which I made a couple of weeks ago for a retirement using flowers made with the Blossom Party die which was available in the Spring Mini (let's hope it reappears in the main catalogue in October). The small flowers are punched with an Itty Bitty Punch and the leaves are made with the Little Leaves Sizzlits die. I used Rich Razzleberry for the main colour with a mat of Whisper White on top, the side of this was cut with one of the Adorning Accents Edgelits die and embossed with an Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, both available in the Summer Mini until the end of August. The card was finished off with a sentiment and a few Basic Pearls.
Thank you for still visiting and I will try to post again as soon as possible :0)

Thursday 19 July 2012

A really quick post before I head off for bed - absolutely shattered as seems to be the norm at the moment! I needed a quick card for a work colleague who is leaving us tomorrow. I used a stamp from Bordering on Romance, coloured the stems with an Old Olive marker and stamped onto Whisper White cardstock. I then added three flowers punched with an Itty Bitty Punch with a Basic Pearl for the centres. The sentiment is from Sincere Salutations and the butterfly from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die. There was a fair bit of matting and layering on this, using Whisper White and Rich Razzleberry, and the centre panel was mounted with dimensionals.
I apologise again for the lack of posts recently but, with my Dad still in hospital, there is very little time for crafting or blogging!

Graduation card

A very quick post today as I am still on 'hospital duty' and it still looks like it's going to be for some time yet! This card is made for a friend and work colleague who got fantastic results for the degree he's been studying on a part-time basis whilst working at school, he is such a lovely person and his results are very well deserved. I got my inspiration for the card from Jackie Topa whose card can be seen here.
It uses Basic Black, Brushed Silver and Whisper White cardstock with a piece of Basic Gray Satin ribbon (for the tie) and some retired Silver Elastic Cord for the tassel and the tie on the scroll. The sentiment was silver embossed, cut out with the Modern Label Punch and layered onto a cut Modern Label in Brushed Silver.
Another thank you to all who have sent good wishes to myself, the family and my Dad during his stay in hospital. It is unlikely that he will make any improvement now but he has reached the grand old age of 90 without ever being ill so that is definitely something to be grateful for.
Be back as soon as I can and thanks for sticking with me :0)

Hope you're not getting too bored with the thank you cards but with crafting time limited I am having to go with demand at the moment! This one is So Saffron and Very Vanilla with not much stamping. A Very Vanilla Top Note, embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots folder, was matted onto a So Saffron card base and flowers added to the side. The large flowers were made with the 5 Petal Flower and Boho Blossoms punches and the small ones with an Itty Bitty punch with Basic Pearls for the centres. The sentiment was punched with the Oval punch and layered onto a So Saffron Scallop Oval.

Yet another thank you card this time using Bordering on Romance. I embossed the oval shape from the Designer Frames Embossing set on Whisper White cardstock and then punched a large oval in a piece of paper to use as a mask before stamping just the leaves and stem part of a stamp from Bordering on Romance. I did this by colouring the part of the stamp I wanted with an Old Olive marker. The border stamp down the side is also from this set and stamped in Perfect Plum. The panel was matted onto Perfect Plum cardstock, a knot of perfect Plum Taffeta ribbon tied around and then layered onto a card blank. The flowers were punched with the smallest flower punch in the Itty Bitty Punch Shapes pack and a tiny Basic Pearl added to the centres. The card was finished with a sentiment from Curly Cute.

Thanks to all those who are asking about Dad, he is still in hospital so the trekking back and forth continues and looks like it could go on for some time yet.

Pearl Anniversary

Now it is safely in the hands of the recipients I can show you a Pearl Wedding Anniversary card I was asked to make a few weeks ago. I started by daubing the large Medallion stamp with Champagne Shimmer Paint and stamped onto Whisper White cardstock, this was put aside until the Shimmer Paint was completely dry. Once dry I embossed the bottom part of the card using the hearts folder which is one of the Textured Impressions Adorning Accents Embossing Folders set available in the Summer Mini. The stamped and embossed panel was layered onto a piece of non-SU pearlised cardstock which I found in my stash and then matted onto an A5 card blank. A simple banner to go across the card was made with Whisper White with a tiny punched flower and some Basic Pearls added. The sentiment is computer printed and one which I found on Annette's blog (click here to go to her post) so a big thank you to Annette as it was perfect for my card. The picture bottom right shows the box I made to put the card in.
Once again I would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and wishes for myself and my Dad, it really does mean a lot to me x

Another card for the 'thank you' orders but this time a 'for you'!! I cut a fancy circle from a design in the Holly Berry Speciality DSP with the Perfect Pennants die and glued it to a card blank. The leafy branch is Wild Wasabi cardstock cut with the Little Leaves die and the Very Vanilla flowers are punched with the flower punch in the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. I used some non-SU coloured pearls as I wanted to pick out the tiny yellow flowers on the DSP and the sentiment is stamped in Riding Hood Red and punched out using the Word Window punch.
A busy day again yesterday as, on top of all the usual stuff, we had a little get together for my grandaughter's birthday in the afternoon but we did get a day off from hospital visiting as my daughter went instead - hence I found a little bit of spare time last night to blog so scheduled this post for today. Are you confused - I am!!!

Birthday Rosette

This is the birthday card I have made for my gorgeous grandaughter who is 2 tomorrow. I think it may be a little old for her and, under normal circumstances I would have spent ages making a punch art Peppa Pig (or some such thing) but, as you probably know, time is not on my side at the moment so this is what I came up with in the time I had. I made the rosette with Pretty in Pink DSP from the Subtles Paper Stack and then stuck on a fancy circle cut from the Perfect Pennants die and topped with a Scallop Circle punch. The number 2 was from the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet die and the ribbon tails are Pretty in Pink satin ribbon. The picture on the right shows the card in it's decorated acetate box. I will try to be back again soon but this week is going to be rather hectic what with the decorator in, work as well as back and forth to the hospital!

Saturday 7 July 2012

Found a bit of time to blog this before I go to bed so am scheduling it to post tomorrow! Thank you to everybody for their good wishes, both for myself and Dad, sadly he's no better and I think the hospital visiting will be going on for a lot longer yet.
This is another card I have made for the 'thank you's' order and again is a very simple one. The swirl from Everything Eleanor is stamped onto Whisper White in Soft Suede, the Pretty in Pink butterflies cut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die and a retired sentiment added at the bottom. This is matted onto Soft Suede cardstock and layered onto a white card blank and a few Basic Pearls added to finish the card.

Friday 6 July 2012

I found a bit more time to blog last night so, as I had already posted yesterday, I scheduled this card for today.
A very simple card to make if just a little time consuming. Several different size circles were punched from Night of Navy and Lucky Limeade cardstock then arranged and glued onto a piece of Whisper White. The sentiment from Curly Cute was stamped at the bottom right of the card before running the whole thing through the BigShot in the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. This was then layered onto Lucky Limeade cardstock, some Bakers Twine wrapped around and knotted then matted onto a card blank.

Thank you

The card today is very apt as I wanted to begin by saying a big thank you to all those people who have still kept visiting, and leaving good wishes, despite my distinct lack of blogging! Unfortunately this will continue for a while yet as my Dad is still very poorly in hospital and, as the time goes on, life gets even more hectic.
Anyway onto the card - being the end of the school year I have been asked by several colleagues for thank you cards so I have been frantically trying to put a few together and this is one of them.
The stamp is from the Simply Soft Hostess set, stamped in Certainly Celery and, as this is a 2-step set, the flower part stamped in Rich Razzleberry using a stamp-a-ma-jig. The bottom section of the card was cut at an angle using one of the Edgelits dies in the Summer Mini and then embossed with an Adorning Accents Embossing folder before layering onto Rich Razzleberry cardstock. This was matted onto a card blank and a sentiment added which was punched with the Word Window punch and layered onto a Modern Label.
I have more thank you cards to share with you so, as soon as I find a bit of spare time to show you, I'll be back.
